The basic plan is to teach participants the principles of photography, arm them with disposable cameras, and send them to document their world. The results being a fresh perspective to an age old issue.

The project will span over 14 weeks with 12 workshops. Week one through to week five would consist of introductions to each other and to photography (including items such as lighting, composition and portraying a story) until each participant will take away a specialist Ilford XP2 or HP5 black and white 27 exposure camera. They spend the week as they normally would, but taking snapshots of their lives and

hardships portraying their story through the medium of photography.  The cameras will be collected and processed the following week, and the developed photos will show us if there are any technique issues and areas for improvement. They are given their second camera, and they go through the same processes but with improved technique.

Other workshops will include framing their images with materials they find on the streets; materials which further the emotion they are trying to portray, but without taking emphasis off the photo itself.  This includes one-to-one help in a fully equipped carpentry workshop. Editing will make up another individual workshop as the participants learn about photoshop and post production. For more information on workshops, please see work schedule under the plan tab above.

Eventually, we will exhibit the participants pieces in a gallery in central Cork. An opening event will be held, and the participants will be given the chance to present their story to an audience including political figures;

through participation they are given a voice and a stage to use it on.
